Au revoir Suisse

September 04th, 2009 | Category: la vie

So I’m on a bumpy easyjet flight to Manchester. It’s not bad, I’m sat by the wing exit so have plenty of leg room :)
On the way through airport security I removed everything from my pockets, removed my belt, and still I beeped passing through the scanner. So while the security guard tried to pat me down, it got tricky as these shorts have no hope of staying up without my belt or hand to hold them, so all the security guards had a good joke on me.
On Wednesday, Nic and I headed down to Milan for the afternoon. The day started of with nic having a huge hangover and me a little worse for wear, but driving over the Saint Bernard pass was so stunning I felt great. So awesome that I had to keep stopping to take in the views. Driving across Italy was smooth and fast as usual. We chose to do the park and ride, thanks to wikitravel’s advice.
Milan is pretty cool, didn’t seem too touristy, but was pretty while modern also. I had liked to find some sunglasses, as I’d like some with prescription lenses. But like with current spec trends, I’m not a fan and never found anything, I’ll have a look in London, but may have to wait until LA.
Pizza and cocktails ended the day by the canal before heading back to Verbier.
Yesterday ian and I did some stuff, like cleaning the car, photographing it, then going for a joy ride up the mountain. It was super strange to be up there where I’ve spent so much time in the snow. It got a bit steep but nothing my car couldn’t handle, maybe a little something for the vertigo. We saw some marmots, odd creatures, take lots of photos, and made the car all dusty again.
The week I have been surrounded by Wii’s, but I prefer doing the real sports.
Oh and I’ve been having trouble with my ears, especially my right ear. They’ve been blocked, I’ve had trouble hearing, and it even got to the point where my ear was hurting. I’ve tried ear drop to see if I could clear them that way, but it on improved for a day. My toncils have been swollen and sore also, so I think I’ll have to try and see a GP when I find one. And my ears are having issues at altitude now.
So no more car now. It’s been great fun to have a comfortable, powerful, head turning car, but I’m not sad to lose it. I’ll certainly think twice before buying such a luxury toy in the future.
Maybe we can find something fun to drive in America.
So to the lake district with dad this evening, a nice walk tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be nice and fit for it after exercising at altitude the past days.

Brain pain

July 25th, 2009 | Category: la vie

I’m in hossegar, just north of biaritz, we can see biaritz and Spain from the beach.
I’m in a world of verbier guys, staying with nico and charlie, another couple of verbs are here too. I bumped into vince my head chef from winter last night. It’s so bizarre, verbier life is everywhere.
It’s so nice to be back by the sea. Yesterday nico and I were body surfing in waves up to 2m. It’s crazy floating up the on the crest, like flying, like superman.
Last night we did the verbier thing and drank loads, so feeling rough now. I still don’t enjoy the meat Market clubs. I’m awake, waiting for these other guys to wake, or at least admit that they are also awake.
Then we can go to the beach. I’ve never even touched a surf board, but joao is a surf instructor, so no time like now to try.
And here I am sleeping on a double bed sized sofa bed, the luxury!

July 23rd, 2009 | Category: la vie

It’s Been a long time since I’ve writen anything.
Basically I saw a car crash(never drive a small car!), drove fifteen hours to verbier. Saw the tour de France, met cool people, had many hangovers, hot very drunk, met lots of rich people, had nice food and cider, spent time with nic n toto, was kept Awake by their kittens, and met an awersome girl.
So now I’m drunk in Aquitaine, at alex’s dads with ian an courtney and family, having just watched a French/Spanish film.
Life is still good.
I’m avoiding going back to England because it is raining over there.!

Powder in april

April 18th, 2009 | Category: la vie

So Alan is here, and everybody had last night off work. So much for the plans for a BBQ, it snowed loads. So we had a house party, we were all a mess by five pm. It was a fun evening, with a big bad head day today.
Alan and I managed to go skiing, boarding today, I even took him up mont gele, pretty hardcore for his first day! Maybe thirty cms of powder, now, in April, insane, and awesome!!!
We got my car back from the garage, with the summer tyres :)
So off to lugarno tomorrow to jump 220m off a dam, same one that James bond did at the beginning of goldeneye. Ace or what.
Good luck to us all.

Fixation

April 15th, 2009 | Category: la vie

It’s been a while, I should have upated after I got back from turkey, but work was consuming me.
My boss was being a real idiot as he had before I left for turkey. He thought/thinks that I was out to steal his girlfriend which is so far from the truth. So he was being rude, agressive and, once in the club, violent. Well Monday was my last shift, and I feel great for it! I just have to chase work up for payment for the work I did at new year, before I was working under contract. But he and I seem to had ended it on good terms?!?!
Turkey was great;
A break from the verbier bubble,
A break from work,
A break from partying,
A feeling of freedom,
The time to get creative,
Time to think, time to read,
Some sun and sea(somewhat cold!),

I got an implant fitted, and two days later a bridge fitted. It will take three months before the bone has healed onto the implant, so I’ll have to go back in June.
I had timeto visit Istanbul. The city took
My breath away. I just spent my time walking and photgraphing, the views and architecture and so much more is just so awesome! All must see this wonder of the world.
I saw an ancient city back in the south near Antalya, which involved renting a crazy car, seeing wild tortoises, awesome beach, and wondering a city over two thousand years old.
So the company drntacaremed turned out to be great. They had set me up in a great hotel room overlooking the beach in alanya. The rep in turkey is a lovely friendly man, with much experience of the area and tourism, who collected me up for the two hour ride from the airport. The dental surgery which they use is nicer than any I have seen in the uk. The dental surgeons seemed to be competant and experienced. It was great that aksel the rep arranged a trip for me to Istanbul, upon my request. All in all it was great value for money, and a great cost saving over having the work done in western Europe, not to mention the great travelling experience. I look forwRd to returning to have re crown fitted in three months!

Back to verbier ad there is less than two weeks left in the season and bars and clubs are having their last parties and even closing parties. So alan is here tomorrow, and everybody has tomorrow off work so it’s going to be a crazyyyy day. Bring on the end of the season madness!!!!!

times of change a coming

March 26th, 2009 | Category: la vie

it has snowed. it felt like a lifetime and lots of snow had melted, but finally we have some great powder, and i’ve had to great days of riding!

so i’m getting a bit sick of work. it’s probably mostly because everybody else moans a lot, and this bring the general vibe toward a negative feeling. but also my boss is being a real idiot. his girlfriend asked if i wanted to ski one day, sent me her number so i texted her once, and now he’s freaking out thinking i’m after his girlfriend, which is so far from the truth, but he ought to grow up, and be less insecure about his life. he just fired one employee yesterday, another handed in written notice, and if he doesn’t sort himself out, i may as well do the same, and then for the busy easter period, they’ll be quite short staffed, which will suck for the other employees, who will have to work so much harder. it’s a shame for everybody that he’s such an incompetent lazy manager.

i’ll miss the snow, but tomorrow i’m off to greece, analya, to get my tooths fixed. it’s so much less expensive to travel to places liek bulgaria, hungary, greece, and having looked online at reputable, reviewed dentists, i chose greece, being that i have never been there. so i’m trading in snow for the beach. i know i’ll miss verbier. but i really need to escape for a bit, some time to chill and relax. otherwise i’ll probably have to wait until july, so i may as well work this out and make the most of it. i imagine some slight discomfort and excruciating pain when getting this implant!

looking forward to the end of the season, the parties, the sun, the snowpark and alan and anne coming to visit, bring it onnnnnn!

and the snow returns

March 23rd, 2009 | Category: la vie

finally after 2 weeks of very little snow and lots of sun, it seemed like all of the snow would soon be gone, and as i speak it is snowing now :D yay for a powder day!

with christian here and beautiful sunny days, i’ve been out partying so much, so now i need rest. i feel a bit shitty, and need less booze for a while. i want to get soem snowboarding done, and that’s difficult when hangin!

today’s skiing just about killed me, after one sketchy run i could barely hold a bottle to drink from.

well anyway, yesterday was the verbier extreme competition and the finals for the world freeride championship. it was a lovely sunny day and loads of people were perched up on mont fort to watch the action. i don’t think i can imagine how to describe how extreme it is, so watch the video:

so i’m quitre excited about thsi year. we are only 1/4 done and it’s been crazy, i expect it is going to be crazier yet!!!

doomsday

March 15th, 2009 | Category: la vie

i just watched the best f&*)ing film ever. Doomsday. it’s like a cross between 28 days/weeks later, braveheart, waterworld, and mad max. it’s almost all set in scotland, some in london. and it is cheesey as hell, and great fun!!!!

come on look, at the end a mad max style chase with a bentley!

doomsday movie car chase bentley continental gt mad max style gimp

watch it!!!!

so i’m back in verbier and it is sunny and warm and is lovely!

mayrhofen was great, but i had enough of the crazy germans who can’t ski, and the apres ski music, though i did buy the cd for a laugh.

ian’s bro is here from new jesey for a week, so time to party again :s

oh and my stitches are out and my mouth is looking much better. i’m still a bit swollen. but time to see the dentist tuesday, and i want a new tooth!!!! any thoughts on a gold tooth?

i’m ready for summer now!

dutch cave

March 11th, 2009 | Category: la vie

heys,

so i’m in mayrhofen, dad al and john went to sleep, and i came back to saiko and pretty much everybody is asleep. i will be soon!

i had a lovely time in innsbruck. anna was very lovely to stay with, and she showed me the town. i got a little drunk off 4 drinks, but put that down to not eating for 4 days. i like the town, people, and especially that they are right below some ski resorts!!

it’s also odd to e in mayrhofen again. i like this place. of all of the resorts that i’ve visited in the past 5 years. only verbier and here have caught my attention as places that have a lot to offer day and night!

i’m staying in a guesthouse, well more of a cheap dutch snowboard refuge. it’s cool. so it’s been snowing and sunny here. today i skiied a load of off piste and my legs certainly aren’t used to it, but i’m still one of the only ones awake. however, i’m not setting my alwarm. it’ll be nice to have a lay in, if the other guys in my dorm don; wake me up!

yeh so my mouth is so so, i eat solid food, but not bread. i have to break up the bread into small bits, as i can’t bit things up, just chew! so friday evening i’m back in verbier to have the stitches out. and i can’t wait to be fixed. i want to be able to smile, eat and talk normally!!!!!!!!

me snowboard jump snow bruson tree verbier powder

and if you haven’t seen, i’ve uplaoded loads of photos from the season to my facebook account!
