I’m down on west wittering beach. Lovely golden sands. Old English country homes along the dunes. Kites flying. People swimming. Yachts sailing. Reeds twitching. Children laughing. Second world war planes droning above. Waves crashing beyond. This is the most english beach i’ve been on. Perfect for a bit of sun bathing!
Where’s the ice cream? Cider?
Sat here is gorgeous on this beautiful sunny day, with the isle of Wight a haze out there. England at it’s finest. I guess the cycle ride here put me in the perfect demeanor. This area Is awesome.
Yesterday was quite a sucess. After an early wake, tidy up, the boat was hauled off down to the mud. We kept busy doing bits. And a few hours later, the tide was up, and the boat was afloat, can I day huray? It’s taken a bit longer than initially planned, but we motored her down to a marina.
It feels like purpose is partially fulfilled, and is great to feel her floating. Not long now and she’ll be ready to sail.
Last night after all of the excitment, I went off with oli. I worked with oli in the Cyberdog shop in Camden years back. It was great to have such a serious, deep conversation. And quite a surprise, as I never knew oli was of such a way of thinking.
The two pint of local cider, and take-away Chinese made for a good sleep.
Well I better get moving, wash and get yo London. It’s ben’s birthday party.
It’s such a shame to leave paradise.
…another time.

This is England. ‘s summer
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009Can’t touch this – it’s too bloody hot!
Monday, August 3rd, 2009Kinda uneventful. I had a couple of cockails with agota n co. Then stayed up chatting with Aussies until too late.
I’ve been to the dentist today, the tooth fitted great but is a shade too light, so it’s off to be altered and fitted tomorrow.
I climbed up a dizzying height to view the city from st. Stephens basalica, and had a great veg lunch in buda at Eden.
Now I’m laying on the embankment o the island in te Danube. The ground is so hot I am literally cooking. I have to keep moving in order to stay comfortable.
On to the second bottle of water this hour.
Yours truely, sweating buckets.
Toasted
Friday, July 3rd, 2009We worked hard in the morning, until the afternoon and it was too hot to work.
Then a long sweaty chill and I washed my car and got driving.
So now I’m at dads near cambridge, to get some stuff and sleep tonight, use a bed, use the net, so some washing, but most importantly have a shower.
Hard work
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009I drove up to boulogne, stopped by Calais to buy some booze, so now I can say I have done a booze cruise, sort of. I got 8 bottles of red wine, 6 bottles of champagne, 4 bottles of breton cider, a bottle o tequila, and a bottle of navy rum. All for little over €80! and they aren’t cheap nasty things
So I have booze for when I’m visiting peoples.
The cat across the sea was super smooth and fast, and cheapish. The seaside was beautiful and sunny, but at sea it was thick fog, I thought we’d have to go slow, but got to England in no time. The eurostar is too expensive now that it’s summer.
So last night martin and I went for Chinese, a bit of a dissappointment. But nice to chat with martin. Last night on the boat was te best night’s sleep that I’ve had In a longfggggg time.
Today we pottered about, but got much work done, jobs that could have taken him over a week had he been alone.
So I feel good, and super tired, so here’s to another good night’s sleep.
Aventure
Saturday, June 20th, 2009So I’m pretty peed off that the wifi issues with my iPod due to the os3 update have lost me one of my posts about what we got up to two days ago. The beer, lake, slides, dinghy, lake, swimming and pasta.
So enough of that.
I’m on a train from Bordeaux to Toulouse, but it isn’t moving :s
I’ve just had a pleasant afternoon in bordeaux. My first time actually stopping here. It’s pretty, full of magasins and peacocks. Maybe the beat part was having a pint of English cider, yum! I met a couple of alex’s friends, nice, nowhere as crazy as he is.
So we’re moving now, I better not fall asleep, I think I’m the second stop, about 90minutes away.
So to my first time in Toulouse, the weekend of fête du musique, and nowhere to stay. Here I go.
Dangerwank, dangerwank
Monday, June 15th, 2009So we spent a somewhat crazy, sleep deprived, drunk, hot, sunny, long weekend at the 24 hours of le Mans.
Friday we arrived at the city at about four, to congestion. All day we’d been seeing racy cars, and the reception was of no exception, Jérémy clarkson in a ferrari included. Tickets €25 each check, camping for group of six €49 check, so far so cheap. Off to the supermarket we fill a shopping trolley with booze. I made my concerns over the lack of alcahol known, but this and a bit of soup, cheese, and dried mash potato was to be our staple for 3-4 days.
So to the track, we missed our turn off and raced along the track, and back, before finding our campsite. We were late arrivals so camped so far from the action the field was relatively empty. Still a strange site it was to see fields of tents with porsches, ferraris, atoms, tvrs, kit cars, well every boys dream, all polished on show, and being covered in dust. Some people had been there since Monday so the piles of beer bottles/cans were already geting artful.
We throw up our tents and get drinking. A quick watch of some vintage cars on the track and back to eat mash and meet fellow campers. Some crazy French guys next to us, a bit of football, Dutch blowing up plant pots, some drunken joy rides and I woke up Saturday morning, just blurred memories.
The frencies passed me some whiskey, I have a beer, eau d’vie and pastiis, an go to watch the warm up. Then after some quick food I head to the track to watch the start at three pm. I was toasted but managed to find the Dunlop bridge. It was quite exciting, but the alcahol in my system, along with the fact that I was without my chums made it less that it could have been. Still it was awesome to see these cars that I’ve read about all of my life, and for the fast ones to lap the slower some after three or four laps. This a 13.6km track. These guys were doing 3:26 laps, averaging 180kmh!
So I wonder to the camp, nobody, walk to visage arnage, nobody, bus to musanne, I necked 2l of water an chill on the back watchin the race. There are so many amateur camera people going snap, snap, snap for every car.
Finally I found the guys back at camp, alex is put for the count. We stop by the track pay an extortionate price for a cold beer and watch the cars into the night. Dad said we’d never see a crash, but we did get to watch an audi take the corner too fast, and smash backwards into the tyre barrier. I think we left after midnight, for more madness in the campsite. So several joy rides on the van, some kebabs, close calls, but the sequrity loved us with their camera love, and again I wake up in a haze.
So I started Sunday off with no booze, and check that the cars are still going. Just an escape really, as how can I not tell, being camped in the track?
I suggested that we all pack up and drive to the mulsanne corner, to avoid the rush to leave at three.
So the peugots are in the top two, a mazda goes hard into the barriers, safety car out, an Aston blows up entering the pits. It was too hot and I almost pass put. For the last three laps the cars bunch together, peugots, corvettes, audis, ferraris etc. The race is for all intents over, peurgot hdi’s first and second and sixth, audi tdi third, Aston fourth, and lolo fifth.
I rooted for aston, being british, and audi because i’m an audi driver and born in Germany. So not a bad finish, allez les bleus!
So we got away nicely, I felt sick and passed out to wake up by la Rochelle. We had a lush meal here on Ile de Re. It’s been fun, time for longfggggg sleeeeep.
Good night.
