Reunionation

September 06th, 2009 | Category: la vie

I’m sat in Leeds city train station due to get to Peterborough later this evening.
I’m super smiley happy, I’ve just spent the evening with henna, plus a couple of pints of nice cider and a great salad.
I haven’t seen Jenna in four years there abouts, and she was my best friend in school. She drifted up north while I drifed south, then abroad. So we had great times together in the past, and still it’s like times haven’t past, we are still cool just the same.
The salad was halloumi and mushroom, so lush as a duck, and Suffolk cider to boot :)
Leeds still has the cool vibe I felt last I was here, I like.
This morning dad, mike, ruth and I went for a nice walk, supposedly 3miles, which turned to six, it was pleasent, with pretty scenery.
Then I spent a whole load of time working out how to meet jenna. She is thesame old nightmare to reach by phone, and all I had to go on was knowing that she worked in HMV. So I had my lunch, and spent time working out the HMVs in Leeds, calling about. It ame down to one HMV that didn’t answer, the rest didn’t know her, so I sat and waited outside until she emerged. Of course it was going to work out.
So now I’m on my way to meet Sean her little brother, and see the family again.
Distant memories, time of now.

Electrifying

September 06th, 2009 | Category: la vie

I just remembered that the other day when Nic and I went mountain climbing in flip flops, she convinced me that the fences weren’t electrified. Fool be me. I touched the fence and instantly a bolt went through my finger, arm, chest, leg and jumped through my big toe to the ground!
Yesterday dad and I went to sedbergh to see Steve and jacqueline, old school teachers, nice, travelled and very traditional, and snazzy dinner of pizza.
Today dad, ruth, mike and I braved the rainy lakes and walked around the horse shoe of Fairfield. Until the route down we were in rain and low visibility, but at the end it was stunning. It’s great to get some exercise done, and be surrounded by such natural beauty.
The heron ended the awe.
So now dad is achey and groany, we went to a pizzaria, how many pizzas have I had this week.
To finish, I’ve been Reading nam’s thoughts. Free flowing beauty.
Sleep time now
Zzzzzzzzzz

This is England. ’s summer

August 22nd, 2009 | Category: la vie

I’m down on west wittering beach. Lovely golden sands. Old English country homes along the dunes. Kites flying. People swimming. Yachts sailing. Reeds twitching. Children laughing. Second world war planes droning above. Waves crashing beyond. This is the most english beach i’ve been on. Perfect for a bit of sun bathing!
Where’s the ice cream? Cider?
Sat here is gorgeous on this beautiful sunny day, with the isle of Wight a haze out there. England at it’s finest. I guess the cycle ride here put me in the perfect demeanor. This area Is awesome.
Yesterday was quite a sucess. After an early wake, tidy up, the boat was hauled off down to the mud. We kept busy doing bits. And a few hours later, the tide was up, and the boat was afloat, can I day huray? It’s taken a bit longer than initially planned, but we motored her down to a marina.
It feels like purpose is partially fulfilled, and is great to feel her floating. Not long now and she’ll be ready to sail.
Last night after all of the excitment, I went off with oli. I worked with oli in the Cyberdog shop in Camden years back. It was great to have such a serious, deep conversation. And quite a surprise, as I never knew oli was of such a way of thinking.
The two pint of local cider, and take-away Chinese made for a good sleep.
Well I better get moving, wash and get yo London. It’s ben’s birthday party.
It’s such a shame to leave paradise.
…another time.

Just what the doctor ordered

August 20th, 2009 | Category: la vie

I’m laying in a cottage in Cornwall with big green letters painted on my front saying ‘lucky dip’ :)
I had a lovely morning chatting with trixie. A wonderful pretty fairy girl, and lots of sunshine. So I left Glastonbury feeling much better than when I arrived. All the people there helped me feel good, and some told me that I did a good deal to make them feel better, so all in I left there feeling good ;)
Well I got to cornwall and the gorgeous weather was grey and English. But I was instantly ordered to get naked, painted up, stuffed pants with lottery tickets and the family and I went off to stand in a field, laugh at others, but mainly get laughed at.
We did not win the dress up contest, by far. Deb scared away all of the photographers. And we had a long walk through town, scaring children who we only wanted to give sweets and make them smile. We were carnival :D
Ali, deb and I had Chinese, mmm and met Izzi, mark and a rather hairless drink.
I really hope we get to go to the sea and swim tomorrow, even if it does rain.

Why is there a great big Belgian helicopter in Regents park?

August 09th, 2009 | Category: la vie

There’s a huge helicopter here in the north of Regents park, why?
I got a new passport the other day, after lots of waiting and hanging around. While waiting I saw G.I. Joe in Peterborough cinema, which wasn’t bad. I did expect the worst, but was quite entertained. I guess I was impressed due to my poor expectations.
Afterwards, I met jab for a pint at charters and we were joined by sean and tessa which was nice. It’s been years since I’ve seen them. Sean’s becoming hippy! And I saw adam. It’s wicked to have time to catch up with people.
Last night hannah, angel and I went out in the east end, cargo. It was cool. Even cooler that the club has a photo booth :) It wasn’t cool that I lost my phone. As it turned out it slipped out of my pocket in the taxi. And luck would have it that the taxi driver answered it and returned it :)
In Angel’s place they have a free gym and pool. So after breakfast we had a quick sauna and jacuzzi, wonderful.
Are these Belgians lost?
Today I’m just chilling. I think I’ll head back up to Cambridge in a bit.
I wish it was sunnier here in England.

Airborne

July 30th, 2009 | Category: la vie

I’m on a wizzair flight from Luton to Budapest. Super tired, I had to wake at half four to take a bus to the airport, which I almost missed. I find myself cutting things quite fine thes days.
Yesterday was pretty depressing.
To start off I saw the mess that was the front end of my car, after hitting the animal, destroyed bumper, broken windscreen/headlamp washer system. Great so that needs fixing as well as the exhaust and windscreen.
It was raining most of the day.
I went to the hair dresser to get a hair cut and was told by a hair dresser of thirty years to wait for somebody else to cut my hair. He couldn’t get his mind around cutting my hair in a non-classic, unconventional fashion. Well now I have shorter, more normal hair, than I can remember having. I like it.
So on the up dad alan and I went to the cinema to see Pelham 1-2-3. It was very Hollywood and predictable, and fairly entertaining, but not something that I’d usually pay to watch.
To heat up the damp day we went for an Indian, so the day was not the worst ever.
This seems to be the trend when I return to the uk, damp, dark, drab, dull. But that’s only because I just came from the beach. I still love the place, just probably couldn’t enjoy living there.
Off to the sun, dentist and fun I go.

Enlightening

July 15th, 2009 | Category: la vie

Nam and I went into Glastonbury to see their shop, make juice and see more of the town. It’s hard to get anywhere fast, buMping into people all of the time.
The juice felt awesome, as did being around these powerful characters.
I chose to leave on a high, and must return to enjoy the place more.
This evening I met alive, izzi’s sister in Bristol. So we walked a lot and I saw how beautiful the city is, and the great cider. And it’s pretty posh, even the bums speak better English than many londoners.
We came back to Weston for borat and pizza.
Now I must sleep as I’m too tired to type.

Waking and waking and waking

July 14th, 2009 | Category: la vie

I think I’m awake now. I’ve been repeatedly dreaming that I’m awake and starting the day. Only to roll over and back to sleep. I can’t remember the other dreams, but they’ve been strange.
From Liverpool I stopped by dads and saw alan.
Then I headed over to silverstone to see chris and andy and the rest of the family. It was great to see chris, and was entertaining to get drunk, have a BBQ and see his family pass out one by one.
I’ve now got my bike in the car and trashed soMe stuff from the store.
Yesterday I arrived into Glastonbury, phone out of battery. I hoped and had a feeling that I’d bump into nam, rather than having to find somewhere to charge my phone or work out other means to find him. And luckily enough I bumped into him just before entering a phone box( I didn’t have his number, so no idea what I’d have done).
We had a little tour, followed by a run up the tor. I met aria and lucyfer, two wonderful people who he lives with outside of Glastonbury.
She insisted repeatedly that we watch ‘legends of zu’, damn good that she did, it is awesome!!
So off to sleep to catch up in the last few days. I hope for a better head tomorrow.

Hard work

July 02nd, 2009 | Category: la vie

I drove up to boulogne, stopped by Calais to buy some booze, so now I can say I have done a booze cruise, sort of. I got 8 bottles of red wine, 6 bottles of champagne, 4 bottles of breton cider, a bottle o tequila, and a bottle of navy rum. All for little over €80! and they aren’t cheap nasty things :) So I have booze for when I’m visiting peoples.
The cat across the sea was super smooth and fast, and cheapish. The seaside was beautiful and sunny, but at sea it was thick fog, I thought we’d have to go slow, but got to England in no time. The eurostar is too expensive now that it’s summer.
So last night martin and I went for Chinese, a bit of a dissappointment. But nice to chat with martin. Last night on the boat was te best night’s sleep that I’ve had In a longfggggg time.
Today we pottered about, but got much work done, jobs that could have taken him over a week had he been alone.
So I feel good, and super tired, so here’s to another good night’s sleep.

Only myself to blame

June 27th, 2009 | Category: la vie

So it’s been a pretty bad day all in.
I woke up after a noisey nights sleep on laia’s sofa, caught an hour of sleep in her bed after she left for work. When I finally went to leave for Barcelona, to catch my train for France, I found she had locked me in. There was no answer from her mobile, leaving me contemplating jumping down balconies to escape. In the end, marta managed to call the hair salon where laia works, an laia’s nephew came and released me.
I spent a short wander in Barcelona, and a quick lunch with her and her mates and dogs, one looking like a confused lamp.
So then came the stupidest moment, not checking the time, I guess the sun and heat had got to my head. So I took a walk up montjuic to see the city from above, I thought it would take maybe 30 minutes. I have no idea though, I enjoyed the walk, took a couple of photos, and just while I was wondering through the castle at the top, I checked the time.
It was 6 minutes before my train left for France, Shit!!!
So I listened to my music to keep chilled and made the 45 minute journey to the station. The station looked so close, I could have glided down one of those wires in seconds.
So in the station, as I’ve begun to notice in all Catalan stations, it’s total disorganisation, huge queues, and people running round stressed like, chickens with no heads.
I spent an hour and a half in there and I; got no ticket, as tomorrows train is fully booked, sweated a lot, got information of a slow train tomorrow thy can’t be booked and involves lots of stops and changes before France, but on the up side, I got my ticket refunded :) ! (something I had heard is the norm in Europe)
So I spent ages wondering the streets, to find a net cafe and organise myself.
I now have a flight to Paris at 07:30 tomorrow morning, thank fffk, I’m sick of trains for now. From which I an get to Bordeaux by TGV, and still meet alex in time to take me home after he drops his girlfriend off at the airport. This shouldn’t come to much more than the cost of training it all the way, even with the cheap hotel which I have here by the train station.
It’s a good thing I’m tired, because I need early sleep before my 5am wake up. And good riddence to today.
Yay for 4 cheese pizza, chilli oil and red wine :D the perfect recipe for sleepiness.
And I can’t wait to go to England!!!
