I have scratches all over my arms from play fighting with leslie’s young pitbull. The little beast is lightening fast, I smacked her on the bum and her teeth were around my hand before I could even move. The pair are lovely and cute. Oh and I’ve never seen a dog jump it’s whole body up to human head level. Scary!
So last night I stayed in the hostel, nobody there came out, too hungover. So I met agota and our group grew to maybe fifteen. The shop had no gold beers so we sat and drank beer with a classical concert beside us in deak square. We headed off to corvinteto and I think I wandered off home due to being a bit drunk. So another day feeling a bit rough.
I happened upon a great little underground restaurant earlier, Nepalese. I had some paneer naan and a curry, wonderful.
Since then i’ve been walking, and now I’m up on Buda hill, with a view over all of Pest and the Danube.
A chilled night is in order I think.
I’ve just noticed something missing from this skyline, an abundance of cranes. Any other capital city is usually overrun by construction, but it doesn’t look like that here.

Disappearing act
Sunday, August 2nd, 2009Park life
Saturday, August 1st, 2009I’ve been trying to sleep in the shade in the park, but the shade is moving too fast and just as I pass out of consciousness the sun falls on my body, roasting me. I give up.
Yesterday I had a curry by oktogon after my walk around the big park. I had a lie on margit sziget island.
After I caught up with bobby, we saw an environmental, futuristic park. Then we had some beers and chats in a park, I can’t find the name on the map. It was fun, there was even a bum diving and swimming in the 30cm deep water.
Later, leslie, bobby and I went down to A38 the club boat. Quite an experience, many young people. And I woke up on the other side of time.
So today bobby admitted to me that I wad taken in for just two days in case I was too much of a wierdo. Pre judgements based upon my couchsurfing photo. I have to change my photo as this is obviously affecting peoples decision on whether to ahve me. Well he liked me and offered for me to stay longer, however he has two French girls, and I’d already booked to stay at the suite hostel, so I’m booked into the hostel. But I’ll stay with leslie, or maybe a Dutch girl after tonight.
So now I’m waiting to feel better free last night. Humous hasn’t helped. Two litres of pineapple juice hasn’t helped. Sleeping in the park hasn’t helped. Maybe some booze will, but I’ll wait til later for that.
And I lost a phone. The new phone I bought three days ago. At least it only cost me £25, but I’m now without my normal phone number. Oops!
Poker n’ace
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009So I came so close to winning poker, second however is not winning. I think I needed more booze to keep it straight and level headed. Well €2 in no loss.
Yesterday I had a margerita, soo strong, only a swim in big waves to reduce it before dinner, geez looking after children is tiring. The drive back was late, long, fast, bumpy and fun.
I found a dead bat in the car. I drove 600km smoothly, found beaches, realised my phone won’t work, and spent time running around time trying to get a phone card.
I’m in a tent in st malo, beautiful, rightfully touristy town. It’s kind of like Dubrovnik in Croatia, just islands of castles. There’s even a diving board into a pool, that is hidden when the tide is up.
It’s super brittanic, I like, I’ll try and have a crepe tomorrow, I’ve never actually had one in britanny!
I saw alex earlier, recovering from the weekend. Then I spent the evening in the countriside playing poker, a nice frenchy evening, where I was branded as not English.
Maybe tomorrow I could be daring enough to dive off the high board into the pool by the sea?!?!
Brain pain
Saturday, July 25th, 2009I’m in hossegar, just north of biaritz, we can see biaritz and Spain from the beach.
I’m in a world of verbier guys, staying with nico and charlie, another couple of verbs are here too. I bumped into vince my head chef from winter last night. It’s so bizarre, verbier life is everywhere.
It’s so nice to be back by the sea. Yesterday nico and I were body surfing in waves up to 2m. It’s crazy floating up the on the crest, like flying, like superman.
Last night we did the verbier thing and drank loads, so feeling rough now. I still don’t enjoy the meat Market clubs. I’m awake, waiting for these other guys to wake, or at least admit that they are also awake.
Then we can go to the beach. I’ve never even touched a surf board, but joao is a surf instructor, so no time like now to try.
And here I am sleeping on a double bed sized sofa bed, the luxury!
Quickie
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009It’s Been a long time since I’ve writen anything.
Basically I saw a car crash(never drive a small car!), drove fifteen hours to verbier. Saw the tour de France, met cool people, had many hangovers, hot very drunk, met lots of rich people, had nice food and cider, spent time with nic n toto, was kept Awake by their kittens, and met an awersome girl.
So now I’m drunk in Aquitaine, at alex’s dads with ian an courtney and family, having just watched a French/Spanish film.
Life is still good.
I’m avoiding going back to England because it is raining over there.!
Waking and waking and waking
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009I think I’m awake now. I’ve been repeatedly dreaming that I’m awake and starting the day. Only to roll over and back to sleep. I can’t remember the other dreams, but they’ve been strange.
From Liverpool I stopped by dads and saw alan.
Then I headed over to silverstone to see chris and andy and the rest of the family. It was great to see chris, and was entertaining to get drunk, have a BBQ and see his family pass out one by one.
I’ve now got my bike in the car and trashed soMe stuff from the store.
Yesterday I arrived into Glastonbury, phone out of battery. I hoped and had a feeling that I’d bump into nam, rather than having to find somewhere to charge my phone or work out other means to find him. And luckily enough I bumped into him just before entering a phone box( I didn’t have his number, so no idea what I’d have done).
We had a little tour, followed by a run up the tor. I met aria and lucyfer, two wonderful people who he lives with outside of Glastonbury.
She insisted repeatedly that we watch ‘legends of zu’, damn good that she did, it is awesome!!
So off to sleep to catch up in the last few days. I hope for a better head tomorrow.
Rough seas
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009i spent yesterday evening with izzi n her boyfriend mark. we had a nicish dinner by the canal in sardo. nice food, but poor value for money, and one rude waiter. but the guys were fun, and i spent some time with fronk, izzi’s baby puppy pug. it is insane, and pugly and cute and wierd!
i picked up a new pair of yen jeans. i love the design of these jeans. they aren’t cheap, but i guarentee that i will wear the life out of them. i haven’t really worn much in the way of other trousers, apart from yen’s, in the past 4 years. independant small designers beat the highstreet in my opinion.
i then met agota up in turnpike lane and we set off for fishguard. so this journey was slow due to traffic, and to make the long day worse, we arrived 40 minutes after a ferry left, leaving us with a two and a half hour wait before the next departure. also i had a couple of words from the local constabulary due to an overtaking i made earlier in the county, but all fine. it shows how different a world that i have been living in to that which is so close by.
so the ferry wasn’t without incident. agota and i sat upstairs to avoid the crowds of kids, to get some peace. once we left, she made a little joke about sea sickness. but this soon turned into a nightmare, for agota, and the whole ship. we were on a smallish catamaran ferry and so the small swells caused a lot of rolling. after 15 minutes agota ran to the toilets, and i didn’t see her for an hour and a half. for the rest of the ship, i have never seen so many sick people in my life. 80% of the passengers were regularly using the sick bags. piles of them dissappeared from the stocks. i didn’t have the slightest problem, but it was pretty disturbing to watch it, like watching a school that has just been poisoned. well you should have seen the passenger’s faces pick up colour when the captain announced that we were 10 minutes from land.
the drive to dublin was peaceful and slow. the government here really pushes the lower speed limit, and with shock signs it is very effective.
agota and i went out for a pint, some greasy food and came home for a bit more drinking, and a french chat with her flatmates. so it’s time for bed, it’s been a long day.
but first you have to watch the best ever topgear road test:
ever. jeremy clarkson at his best, in a ford fiesta!!!
Hangin
Saturday, July 4th, 2009Euggg hung over. I just had to drive across central London feeling like crap.
I’m going to o and see portabello road.
I’m looking for an old chunky gold watch, preferably not in working order, I don’t care to know the time too much.
Yesterday I dropped by camden to see the guys in Cyberdog and popped by izzi’s and met her baby pug. It’s cute but sooo weird.
Then I headed to the squat in crouch end to meet with bertrand. We drank cider. There were lots of puppies available, I’d have loved to take one, but i’m far from capable of looking after one at the present time.
Matt came along and we and others went to Camden to go out. I that the first time that I actually went to Camden to go out like that?
Well the purple turtle was strange, like being in the five Years ago life, seeing mates and colleagues from before. Then we went to Dublin castle where we danced. I was so drunk that a girl I was getting with gave up. Oops!
So now I need breakfast to cure my self inflicted ails.
Oh and the iPod having Bluetooth, about bloody time, I love it.
