Only myself to blame

So it’s been a pretty bad day all in.
I woke up after a noisey nights sleep on laia’s sofa, caught an hour of sleep in her bed after she left for work. When I finally went to leave for Barcelona, to catch my train for France, I found she had locked me in. There was no answer from her mobile, leaving me contemplating jumping down balconies to escape. In the end, marta managed to call the hair salon where laia works, an laia’s nephew came and released me.
I spent a short wander in Barcelona, and a quick lunch with her and her mates and dogs, one looking like a confused lamp.
So then came the stupidest moment, not checking the time, I guess the sun and heat had got to my head. So I took a walk up montjuic to see the city from above, I thought it would take maybe 30 minutes. I have no idea though, I enjoyed the walk, took a couple of photos, and just while I was wondering through the castle at the top, I checked the time.
It was 6 minutes before my train left for France, Shit!!!
So I listened to my music to keep chilled and made the 45 minute journey to the station. The station looked so close, I could have glided down one of those wires in seconds.
So in the station, as I’ve begun to notice in all Catalan stations, it’s total disorganisation, huge queues, and people running round stressed like, chickens with no heads.
I spent an hour and a half in there and I; got no ticket, as tomorrows train is fully booked, sweated a lot, got information of a slow train tomorrow thy can’t be booked and involves lots of stops and changes before France, but on the up side, I got my ticket refunded :) ! (something I had heard is the norm in Europe)
So I spent ages wondering the streets, to find a net cafe and organise myself.
I now have a flight to Paris at 07:30 tomorrow morning, thank fffk, I’m sick of trains for now. From which I an get to Bordeaux by TGV, and still meet alex in time to take me home after he drops his girlfriend off at the airport. This shouldn’t come to much more than the cost of training it all the way, even with the cheap hotel which I have here by the train station.
It’s a good thing I’m tired, because I need early sleep before my 5am wake up. And good riddence to today.
Yay for 4 cheese pizza, chilli oil and red wine :D the perfect recipe for sleepiness.
And I can’t wait to go to England!!!

Or 311kph, I’m on a train from Barcelona to Madrid right now. I think this is the fastest that I’ve ever travelled at on land.
My shoulders are peely from too much sun a week ago in lacauno.
Yesterday I met laia on the beach at premia se mar. We had some beers, dinner, wine, And she got quite drunk. She’s made a new song, it’s nice but needs much work. I’m impressed that she’s working things out to have time to make music, and live.
This morning I had an hour on the beach, so I feel a little rosy, but not burned, good!
Today will be the first time that I’ve ever been to Madrid, flying in on the way to Peru doesn’t count.
So I guess I’m staying with esti, maybe see victor, maybe a friend of laia, I have no idea about this place.

Sat in the loo in Bratislava. We’ve come here for lunch, so we can say that we’ve been to the slovak republik!
It’s grey and rainy, and we’re all stupidly tired.
Time for Vienna, and I’m super excited because ben and harry are there :)

Dodgy

We’ve been to a memorial park of soviet statues.
We’ve been to thermal bathes, done somersaults, swum as far as we could underwater, been whirled around, had super wrinkly feet and hands.
Eaten too much throughout the country.
Met old friends.
Parties some more.
Woken up feeling bad.

So now I want to get away, escape this wonderful place, a place I will surely come back to.

I love Budapest!

Alex made the whole drive here to Sofia. We offered to take over but he kept saying no. Eventually 9 hours of driving later he snapped, but we found the art hostel in Sofia.
It was 10pm and we hit the hostel bar, a few shots and beers and off out. Not too eventful.
Yesterday we mustered up the energy to leave and find food. Mcdonalds for the lovers, sushi, pork, risotto, and fried cheese for alex and I. We found second hand old books. I bought a 1955 Bulgarian copy of David Copperfield in English, and a 1964 copy of Live and Let Die. So no need to take my time Reading from now on.
I dragged us to to tallest building for drinks, but we found ourselves in another book convention.
So a beer in the park and it rains.
It turned out that we we next to the hostel, we all bought some crazy t-shirts and got some beers.
Watched a graduation and started a failure of a bar crawl. The locals don’t seem to manage bar crawls, the don’t do ordering at a bar, so we got bored, back to the hostel.
Met a crazy swede, and crazy Canadian guy who pissed each other in some other country and hooked up to continue travelling, and off we all went out, minus courtney.
Crazy taxi rides, and we ended up far far away. But due to the crazies and their sandles, we only managed to get into the last of the clubs in clubberb, which was crap. Reminder, steer clear of turbofolk.
Back to town where our wallets got raped in a strip bar, better left unmentioned, we the ditch alaex and get food and beers.
So now I’m awake, I’m going to get breakfast here, before we head to Romania.

Family guy

April 21st, 2009 | Category: la vie

We’ve been drinking too much and watching family guy too much.
I can’t wait for the season to end, and the drinking to be done!
Saturday ian, courtney, alex, alan and I drove through Italy to lucarno in Switzerland. We went there to do the craziest thing we’d all done in our lives maybe. Coming around the corner to see the dam, all of our hearts stopped. The verzasca dam is the largest bunjee jump off of a dam, at 220m, it was scary to look at. Even more scary to walk along, but stood at the edge of the gantry was fairly nerve wracking. It was a seven second free fall at 120kmh. We then bounced almost all of the way back up. We had to climb up our cord a bit, then hook ourselves up to a cord to pull us back up.
It was awesome to the point at which I can’t describe!!!
Afterwards we had a pizza by lago maggiore, beautiful place, awesome pizza, wonderful drive all day. A day that was amazing, beyond words.
Sunday, alan and I drove to Chamonix to escape, but the skiing was crap, the snow was good but it was snowing too heavily to enjoy. We headed down to town for a proper raclette, the three of us managed to eat a kilo of cheese, which was super painful.
It was the last night of casbah. Which was great, but I won’t be sad to not go there any longer. Too much drinking went on in there, and my body could do with a rest.
Yeatsrday we drank from midday, went to l’atelier for hog roast and party. I had to bring alan home at midnight, hi being too drunk.
Last night of wonderbar tonight, so the same again :s
I’m going to try and get plates for my car this afternoon, so thumbs crossed.
Anne gets here tomorrow, and I haven’t riden much in ages.
